Collection & Sale
Our signature programs exist as a circular economy; the items donated during Collection are sold for low prices at Sale, and profits get distributed amongst our volunteers.
Collection Guide
We host two collections per year during each semester's move-out week: Winter Collection in December and Spring Collection in April/May. Join our e-list and follow us on Instagram for announcements and updates.
Collection FAQ
Can I donate if I don’t live in a residence hall?
Yes! Some of the locations listed on our donation map are located outside of the proctor station, which means anyone in the Northeastern community can drop items in those bins.
What can I donate?
The short answer: anything clean and working… including but not limited to:
Athletic equipment (baseballs, skis, tennis rackets)
Appliances (coffee makers, irons, fans)
Electronics (TVs, fridges, printers, game systems, light fixtures)
Cleaning supplies (vacuums, gloves, brooms)
Bags (purses, backpacks, reusable)
Plastic storage containers
School supplies (books, notebooks)
Kitchen supplies (cooking utensils, pots & pans, silverware, dishes)
Bedroom supplies (posters, bed risers, carpets, furniture)
Clothing
Non-perishable food items
What can I NOT donate?
We do not accept items that are broken or unsanitary. Please use your best judgment and reference the donation guide for help.
Can I donate my sheets?
We are excited to be able to accept sheets and other textiles now! We have partnered with Helpsy, a textile recycler, to recycle these items. Please wash and bag your non-clothes textile items before donating them.
Can I donate food?
We are excited to be able to accept non-perishable food! We have partnered with NU Mutual Aid, a student-run organization, to donate collected food to their Community Fridge located on St. Stephens Street.
What should I do with my items before donating?
Clean your donation, make sure it isn’t broken, and bag it with similar items if possible!
What do the bins look like?
